Actually I run Windows 95 on my ancient Pentium 150. The windows registry is an ever changing group of files where your computer keeps track of programs and system settings. Many entries become obsolete as we add or delete programs or otherwise change things on our computer. Occasionally parts of the registry become corrupted or simply are no longer pertinent to the current software configuration. A registry cleaning program searches for no longer valid or otherwise corrupted entries and removes them. At the same time a backup is made so you can restore to a pre cleaning state in case something important is erased in error.

This may help your browser instability or may not. My usual progression when experiencing these kind of problems is to scan the disk, then clean the registry. Then reinstall the software if the problems persist. Naturally the browser performance is directly tied to the stability and speed of your internet connection, so that's also an area where the problem may lie.

Others on the thread are more proficient at diagnosing browser problems. Perhaps one of them will chime in.

Regards,
Esteban

hi stock2talk,

when was the last time you defragged? failing to do so can make a computer sluggish.
