Hi Blackmind

Dinesh - don't be such a socialist

Now, now. Whatever gave you such an idea ? Do you also
believe, like Ed, that the higher Fed Funds rates mean more
interest payments to the govt.<g>

Banks can't open without FDIC insurance. So it's impossible to put your money in a non-insured bank

Oh, the wonderful USofA. One can easily open accounts in,
say Bank of the Republic of Banana or some such place.
They have no concept of FDIC. <ggg>

So please get off the "Gov't Knows Best" mentality.

The govt. does know best -- only question usually is,
for whose benefit. In ANY event, when did I EVER imply that.
Please re-read my post.

Any case, I doubt if this adds any value to the thread.

Regards
Dinesh

Nice attempt at rewriting history there. The deregulation of the banks is what opened the door to their abuses, and the government eventually had to step in and clean up, at huge cost to the taxpayers. The alternative would have been to shutter the economy as the banking system collapsed.

JMHO.
