My understanding was that Eagle did the seismic data surveys period, and that Seitel in effect owned the data that was done as spec data in their library. Correct me if I am wrong. I think your notes over simplify the process, there are two types of seismic survey 1) spec or group shoot; where the seisic company puts together a prospect and sells it and 2) proprietary; where a seismic company is contracted by an oil company to collect data exclusivly for them in an area that they are interested in.
