Are we looking at the orders of magnitude of Pinatuba or Helena? Or what?

Personally, I am far more concerned with the Long Valley Caldera near Mammoth Lakes, CA.

But not really for either one. Here is why..."supply". You will find the most violent volcanos near a subduction zone. This is where one tectonic plate is going under another. You will often find a series of volcanos that parallel subduction zones. Mt St. Helens and the whole Aleution Island chain is an example. The subduction zone of the Pacific plate was once as far south as the Mojave desert and has moved north over time. I believe that the Long Valley caldera as well as the Yellowstone caldera are remnants of an earlier volcanic configuration that produced the kind of activity that has been described. And where it is possible to have further volcanic activity. I believe that it will be very limited as the necessary ingredients are not there for the planet killer that has been discribed.
