Annette, my husband's a boatbuilder, loves to fish for bass and blues here off the New England coast. The problem is that there's an old fisherman's adage that you can't catch a fish if there's a woman in the boat. He's been trying to prove this wrong for three summers now. He gets me up before dawn and I sit there while he motors past Fisher's Island and casts. And cast and casts and casts. I'm freezing. I'm fantasizing about being caught by the hook in the cheek and thrown into the sea.... He's still never caught a fish with me in the boat. But he's not gonna stop trying, either. <g>
