Big Media has been stockpiling excrement for McCain and would have preferred to dump it on the Republican nominee but since it appears unlikley he'll be the choice, I expect it'll all come out now. Has a short shelf life at this point.

And he's still ( nominally ) a Republican so sliming him can still do their cause some good.

If McCain gets the nomination, the Democrats will probably get control of one or both houses. He's more likely to turn out the Democrat and Independent vote, and turn off the Republican and Conservative turnout.
