SC is really not a good proving ground. The religious right (which has the republican party in a chokehold and will be the death of it) holds too much sway, and the populace is reactionary to the extreme.

Bush will also do well in West Virginia, I imagine.

Yes, that is exactly what I thought about Gore too. Until I witnessed Gore just smoke Jack Kemp in 96.

Don't underestimate Gore, he might be a blockhead, but that never stopped anyone from getting the office before. Gore just got 8 years of training from the master storyteller and some of it has got to rub off.

I would not bet that Bush (who is not fast on his feet) will beat Gore in a debate.

As for GW having the smarts, I am undecided at this point. He sure didn't prove it to me on Larry King.

Then again, Nixon didn't show well on TV, and I really liked him.
