*Does this news release have any effect on Vari-L?

PLLs are generally composed of several components including at least one VCO. While VARL does sell PLLs, VARL is focused on other component areas that contribute much more $$ to revenue.

Chris --

I'm not sure how that announcement impacts VARL, but it does impact RMTR.

From an old RMTR press release:

<i.COLORADO SPRINGS, CO, November 18, 1999 ? U.S. semiconductor maker Ramtron International Corporation (Nasdaq: RMTR); Ramtron's wholly owned subsidiary, Enhanced Memory Systems, Inc.; and Cypress Semiconductor (NYSE: CY) announced today that they have entered into a joint technology agreement to develop semiconductor memory products for the rapidly expanding network communications market. The multi-million dollar agreement provides for joint development and multi-source supply for the resulting products.

"We are excited about the potential benefits of incorporating jointly developed technology in our future products," said Tony Alvarez, senior vice president of Cypress Semiconductor. "The products we envision will set new standards for price and performance in the network communications memory space."

"We are pleased to be working with Cypress to define and produce multi-sourced, industry-leading memory products for the network communications market," said Craig Rhodine, Ramtron vice president.
