Yes- the book would be ok for a 12 year old.

No- Fanny and Edmund were not first cousins (as I recall)

Mary Crawford was not a lesbian- at least not in the text

I haven't seen the movie but i hear it does NOT fairly represent the book. Any of Austen's books are suitable for any age. There is nothing objectionable in any of them. of course the more you know about human activities the more you can imagine from the text- but the books themselves are safe.
