gdr, how have you stayed in business? deep pockets?

Skeeter,

My pockets are apparently not nearly as deep as many that spend time on this thread. I stay in business by staying ahead of the curve in that we were doing computerized direct mailing before most firms had PCs.

We always focus on reinvesting in the business giving us inventory depth. We internally assemble solitaires, carry collectable of all kinds and most importantly, never worry about fixing something broken for a customer even if it was the fault of the customer. I also have to give credit to my wife for having very innovative marketing ideas and myself for implimenting them.

The problem is there are fewer and fewer independants in this country and the independants are disappearing much faster than in the past. The chain jewelers I am sure are the more "efficient" business models since they carry the same items over and over and automatically re-order when they are low. The problem becomes every one's jewelry starts to look a like LOL.
