Armin, please provide info that McCain was responsible, in part or in large, for unhooking S&L's from their prior tightly prescribed investments and activities.

I'm not going to research the negative, since I ain't got enough time for this foolish exercise. But I do see he was first elected to the House in '82 and Senate in '86. The S&L's began to depart from the old prescribed activities way back in the '73 range. I remember, since my little S&L college passbook nest egg from paper route and other various odd jobs took a big jump in interest rates. No doubt Nixon was to blame, again. -g-

I have no basic problem with the assertion that the USA has incompetent or corrupt leaders. We deserve 'em because as a nation we are more stoopit and nearly as corrupt as they are. But, McCain doesn't deserve some lion's share attribution for S&Ls.
