I agree this is not a bad move but anyone can do this.

I reccomend that Intel pursue some unique integration strategy.

My vote is to extend the timna approach.

As well as integrating the rdram controller they should then integrate the MTH ASIC to interface the Chipsets via the RDRAM controller and the MTH to off chip SDRAM.

This would allow further integration and eliminating that pesky MTH off the board. This would also enable Intel to have a UNIQUE level of integration.

Hopefully Intel can manage to do this with the next timna and 820 revs.
