How is it that Linux is going to be more cost-effective or have a lower TCO than Solaris if Solaris is free?

W2K = NT5.0 The name changes, but it doesn't change the issue.

SCOC = SCO? If so, get serious!

The rest is a mixture of chips and box makers, some of whom have their own RISC platforms.

You are making what seems to be a specific, if confusing, claim about cost-effectiveness and TCO with respect to Solaris and Itanium. Could you answer the question instead of diverting to a different point?
