The Millionaire Next Door...

Have you read this book? According to the book, "it is seldom inheritance or advanced degrees or even intelligence that builds fortunes in this country. Wealth in America is more often the result of hard work, diligent savings, and living below your means." "...Many millionaires bargain shop for used cars.... raise children who are often unaware of their family's wealth until they are adults, and, above all, reject the big-spending lifestyles most of us associate with rich people. Most of the truly wealthy in this country don't live in Beverly Hills or on Park Avenue- they live next door."

My father sent me this book....and also sent it to my brother and sister. (I think he was sending his "children" a "message"!)

<<<<<<Well, that costs money.

money derived from slogging ?. if only a few would just admit it. who tells the truth ? who tells their wife or girlfriend what really goes on at work ?

i like that ad for wall street journal on the tube, you know the twins separated at birth. one reads the wsj and the other is taken fishing or something. one becomes a big success with is internet ipo and the other still lives at home and still goes fishing. meanwhile in real life the first guy probably croaks early or ends up with a shiny metal bracelet on his wrist (kis would have reported him). the guy the ad made fun of is still fishing. G-d help the second guy for just wanting to chill and enjoy fishing !

you can get John Ralston Saul at amazon i think...
