I would assume that it will be handled essentially like a stock split or dividend, only paid in PALM shares instead of additional COMS shares or cash. We should know all the details of the distribution well in advance (I'd expect at the very least a month), and it seems reasonable to assume that anyone who has shares of COMS when trading closes for the distribution will have PALM shares the next morning.
