There was certainly a lot of trust and faith among Hitler's followers, which is why they were able to do what they did. When people place their trust and faith in another person, rather than in their ability to decide for themselves, things can get very ugly indeed. Trust is dangerous, faith is lethal. When many people agree on something completely (once we go beyond the simplest and commonest issues, at least), it's almost a sure bet that none of them are thinking independently. If they were, they'd disagree.
