Satyam Infoway Plans to Buy More Internet Portals, Paper Says

Mumbai, Feb. 22 (Bloomberg) -- Satyam Infoway Ltd., an Indian Internet service provider, will consider acquiring new portals after completing the payment for its earlier acquisition by June, the Business Standard reported, citing the chairman of Satyam Computer Services Ltd., which owns 57 percent in the company. 'We are looking at some of the leading portals in the country,' said B Ramalinga Raju, chairman of Satyam Computer Services Ltd. Raju refused to name the companies he was targeting for a takeover, the newspaper said.

Satyam Infoway Ltd. last year bought a 24.5 percent stake for 1.22 billion rupees ($28 million) in IndiaWorld Communications Pvt. that runs a Web site for Indians overseas and has an option to buy the rest of IndiaWorld.com at 3.76 billion rupees.
