NORWOOD, Mass., Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Analog

ÿDevices announced today that its leading ADSL
ÿ(Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) chipset solutions are
ÿfueling the growth of mass worldwide deployment of ADSL.
ÿNow, ADSL services in eight of the top ten PSTN (Public
ÿSwitched Telephone Network) markets in the world will be
ÿpowered by Analog Devices' ADSL chipsets including the
ÿnetworks of USA, China, Germany, France, United
ÿKingdom, Italy, South Korea and Brazil.

ÿAnalog Devices' chipsets are the basis of ADSL solutions
ÿcurrently being deployed in multiple regions by worldwide
ÿand regional partners such as 3Com Corporation, Cisco
ÿSystems, ECI Telecom, Samsung, Hyundai Electronics
ÿIndustries, Lucent Technologies, Newbridge Networks,
ÿNortel Networks, Marconi and Efficient Networks.
ÿAccording to a recent analyst reporti, international
ÿmarkets represent the fastest growing segments of ADSL
ÿdeployment with estimated compound annual growth rates
ÿ(CAGR) from 1999-2003 of an averaged 63% for central
ÿoffice (CO) ports shipped and 63% and 79% for customer
ÿpremise equipment (CPE) ports. These rates are compared
ÿto US CAGR rates of 44.3% for CO ports and 63.1% for
ÿCPE.

ÿFrance Telecom's selection of ECI Telecom's
ÿHi-FOCuS(TM) Broadband Access Solutions is the latest in
ÿa series of recent international deployment
ÿannouncements made by companies using ADI's ADSL
ÿchipset solutions. Last month, Hyundai Electronics
ÿIndustries announced that it has been chosen by Korea
ÿTelecom to supply its ADSL-based SpeedXess(TM) DSL
ÿAccess Multiplexer for delivering fast Internet and Leased
ÿLine services to both residential and business subscribers.
ÿThis follows another ECI Telecom announcement that
ÿGerman Deutsche Telekom AG has awarded the company
ÿnew orders for ECI Telecom's Hi- FOCuS system. ECI
ÿTelecom's Hi-FOCuS systems are being deployed by
ÿDeutsche Telekom to deliver broadband Internet, video,
ÿand multimedia services to subscribers throughout
ÿGermany in the year 2000. ECI Telecom's Hi- FOCuS
ÿsystem, based on ADI's industry-leading ADSL chipsets,
ÿhas also been selected by Sichuan PCI in China.

ÿAnother ADI customer, Newbridge Networks, has
ÿannounced a variety of deployments of its 3DSL and
ÿMainStreetXpress solutions at Cable & Wireless U.K.,
ÿDeutsche Telecom, Eircom, France Telecom, Guangdong
ÿPTA, Hanaro Telecom, Kingston Communications, Monaco
ÿTelecom, and Telus (BC Telecom).

ÿ"These announcements demonstrate that Analog Devices'
ÿADSL technology is recognized by the industry as the
ÿmost dependable and interoperable foundation for the
ÿworld's largest deployments and most complex
ÿconfigurations of ADSL," said Russ Johnsen, Analog
ÿDevices' vice president and general manager,
ÿCommunications Products Division, Analog Devices. "With
ÿeach new deployment internationally, Analog Devices is
ÿfueling the growth of ADSL worldwide by offering solutions
ÿand support to meet the needs of the industry today,
ÿwhile protecting investment and ensuring reliability into
ÿtomorrow."

ÿAnalog Devices' ADSL chipsets can be configured for
ÿeither full rate or G.lite operation and represent the only
ÿADSL chipset solutions that offer widespread
ÿinteroperability shipping today. Three generations of
ÿchipsets are based on DMT (discrete multi-tone)
ÿtechnology that comply with international standards
ÿincluding American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
ÿT1.413 and the International Telecommunications Union
ÿ(ITU) G.992.2 and G.992.1 standards.
