Bill,

MSFT is paranoid about Windows. Any alternative to Windows is considered by MSFT as a declaration of war.

As long as the game machines did just that - play games, it was ok with MSFT. But the new machines have new capabilities, so in a way compete with Windows.

You are suggesting, then, that the X-box should use cd's rather than game cartridges. Makes sense to me.

BTW these game consoles, I think, are retailing over $200....I think Scot was low with $149.
