<<the discussion was about injuries from spiked trees not casual accidents that you mention.....Please explain to me and others who have experience in these matters how hitting a spike in a tree can cause injury.>>

I thought I did. I'll try being more concise. Your point I believe is true, that if the saw is in the wood it might throw the chain, get stuck, or just be dulled by the interferrence of a spike without causing injury. I said that if the chain hits something hard before actually getting into the cut it can cause the saw to buck. Another point that I didn't mention is that sometimes when one tooth of the saw grabs something hard or the blade gets pinched it can result in throwing the saw out of the cut while still running. The effect is to push the saw operator backward and can be real risky. The other point that I made is that there are lots of accidents that happen to loggers, some are human error, most are just freak accidents, and distractions like this Tom Foolery could very likely bring these events to happen.

<<I would like to see just one report where a logger was injured because of "spiking"..If there were any they would have been made very public.>> This is an excellent point. Congratulations. As I recall, however, that was the argument to you green people about Nuclear generating plants....for a while. I still consider your attitude callous toward the human beings in this who are being put at risk. It is this kind of white wash that gets you politico activist guys in trouble all the time. What was the purpose in putting the spikes in in the first place pezz. Was it not to make the lumbering process more troubling. Adding to the difficulty and complexity of an already risky job would lead any rational person to conclude that you are adding to the risk. sheeees next you'll be saying, it depends on what the meaning of "Spikes" is.
