JNI Appoints Long-Time Western Digital Veteran John Casalaspi Senior Director of OEM Sales

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 21, 2000--JNI Corporation (Nasdaq:JNIC - news), a leading developer and manufacturer of high-performance Fibre Channel products used in storage area networks (SANs), today named John Casalaspi senior director of OEM sales.

Casalaspi, 40, will be responsible for all sales of PCI and SBus-based host bus adapters (HBAs), ASICs, and software to original equipment manufacturers, including management of JNI's OEM sales team. Casalaspi will report directly to Roland J. Thibodeau, executive vice president, sales, JNI.

Casalaspi, a 15-year veteran of Western Digital, has nearly 20 years of OEM sales and engineering experience in the storage industry. Most recently, Casalaspi served as vice president, marketing and strategic sales with worldwide responsibility for WD's sales efforts to major companies, including Compaq, Dell, Gateway, Apple and IBM.

As vice president, strategic sales at WD, Casalaspi oversaw sales efforts for hard disk drives, video boards, network cards and other devices to WD's six largest customers as well as managing the company's entire sales force. As regional sales director, Casalaspi managed the company's distribution channel in various territories throughout North America. He also held jobs as district sales manager and as a sales engineer. Before joining Western Digital, Casalaspi held sales and engineering positions with StorageTek in the New York area.

''John rounds out our senior sales management team, along with Mike Orenich, JNI's vice president of worldwide channel sales,'' said Thibodeau. ''Casalaspi will have two major duties: drive and expand our OEM sales staff, and help JNI boost sales to storage and server OEM's with our newly announced PC Server DriverSuite(TM) software drivers: Windows NT, Windows 2000, Mac OS, Linux and Novell.'' Casalaspi holds an M.B.A. in Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University, an M.S. in Computer Science from New Jersey Institute of Technology, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University.
