I'm afraid I don't understand.... The saws that I am familiar with have the handles quite a bit away from the moving chain . Were you holding on to the tubular type handle that most saws have? I often had the chain do this ..These chains will actually stretch over time and must be adjusted from time to time to take up the slack or they will do just that.
