Dual core: presumably, OS support would be about the same, or a slight variation, on that needed for discrete multiprocessors. Maybe a few tweaks on existing code, a little bit different in booting things up maybe, probably a special lock instruction of some kind to take advantage of the , er, proximity. I wouldn't hold my breath on Win9x support, though.

Or, you could do dual core with a single MMU, which would limit any gain to applications that could use multiple threads internally. That would be useful for some specialized things but probably not worth the bother.

Cheers, Dan.
