Hi Bill - don't worry. I don't know if MD is an ax in this area. If CSFB left NT out, then I would begin to worry

Of course, the devil is in the details. I will be more respectful if I see the whole article and if there is reasonable basis for the claim. Else, one has to realize the stake an investment house, any investment house, has in certain companies [so call me cynical :)]

best, B

>>How can you mention fiber optics without mentioning NT?<<

That is correct. It is always possible that because that was just one passage of the report, NT may be mentioned elsewhere. Unfortunately I am not a MSDW high net worth client and do not have access to the full report. If anyone can get their hands on it, it could still be worth a read....(hint hint...please post...<g>)

Bill,

NT is mentioned quite a bit in the report (pages 14, 23, 35, 36, 38, 42, 43, 46, 49) ,but they didn't make their top picks list. Big deal. It's one house's opinion, it isn't gospel (but see below the real reason why.....)

Nortel is mentioned as leading (with 80%) market share in the integrated (bundled) SONET and DWDM market, and a 37% share in the DWDM market.

Where there is no bundling, the report says that LU leads with a 47% share.

As well there is this specific disclaimer on the page of DATA for NT:

Ratings and estimates for this company have been removed from consideration in this report because, under Morgan Stanley Dean Witter policy and/or applicable regulations, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter may be precluded from issuing such information with respect to this company at this time.

That's probably why there is not as much as you'd like.
