RE: <all Intel said so far is that Willamette's FPU will be faster clock-for-clock than P6.>

Tenchusatsu,

As I conceded to Paul. Johan's article and my interpretations are not definitive, especially considering that the article has been revised once already. Who knows whether it is accurate this time. But if it is then it sure changes my opinions about Willamette. I think it bears repeating that if that data is true then:

- Athlon is theoretically 42% faster than Willamette at unoptimized X87 floating point calculations.
- Willamette is only 15% faster at floating point calculations when code is optimized for ISSE and 3DNow.
- These calculations are based on a 1.4GHz Willamette and a 1.2GHz Athlon

I know that's a big if but, if true, then all I can say is Wow!!

Thanks,

Epinephrine

Tenchusatsu,

You probably can't answer this but I will ask anyway. Will the Willamette core have a dual issue FPU?

Thanks,
