had a discussion at lunch today with two fellows who did some talking about the advantages we might enjoy with a national sales tax.

The only real problem I have with a national sales tax is that our present savings will have been taxed twice because of the effects of the change-over. First, we already paid a tax on the wages etc., we used to build up our savings under the present system. But when the change-over to a national sales tax comes into effect, our savings will be taxed again when we spend them.
