Thanks Joe and Alski. I know the problem with transfers. It takes a considerable length of time. Wonder if the IRAs were converted to cash if they would have to transfer the money immediately since there would not be a stock transfer. Think I'll check that out. Good idea to start an IRA with a new broker since I have not done that yet.
