You asked for a guess.....

Since the volume wasn't much and there was no news, or hints of news that I could find, I think the following explains the drop:

1) A few people were spooked by overall market conditions and sold.

2) Margin calls on other issues.

3) VLNC "stagnating" and the impatient moved shares out of their position.

4) Weakness in overall market and VLNC offers shorts some rays of hope and some ran with it.

Of course, none of this is fact. Just a WAG from start to finish.

Regards,

DFCampbell

Steve,
This MM manipulation has been going on since the stock hit 37.Its the only way a large amount of shares can be
accumulated by Inst. when there are very few shares available. If you look at level 2 you would see just a few hundred shares for sale on the ask.If you believe in the
company forget about STOP LOSS orders. When the accumulation
is finished this stock will reach new HIGHS.TO those who
try to time the move good luck.
Mike

I was concentrating on RMBS today, so I did not see the sudden walk down on VLNC, but from what you describe, it seems that the MM's were trying to accommodate a "friendly" buyer, that should be bullish if we can respond to the slightly better market sentiments and close back above $30 tomorrow. It will be interesting to see tomorrow if those large ask's are still there in the low 30. Just an opinion derived from your observation, of course.
