Ish, the reason I am posting here today is that I needed to take a break from Putin's world!

No, I don't think the US has to worry about being nuked. For that matter, I don't think anything he does is going to affect the United States much in the direct, material sense. The U.S. may indeed be able "to do business" with Putin, as both Albright and Clinton have assured us.

But he sure is going to queer things up at home, even more than he and his predecessor have already done. He's a Chekist, a KGB-ist, and he's already stocked the government up with his buddies from the "agencies." Sound familiar? But this time, the "masses", gripped by war psychosis, will have only themselves to blame if they vote him in for real.

Edit: Right now, a campaign is gathering steam right now for another candidate. His name is -- drum roll! -- NONE OF THE ABOVE. I wish we had that feature in our electoral system: that is, the opportunity to vote for "none of the above." The point is that if the number of people voting for "real" candidates falls below 50%, the whole election is disqualified. A new one will have to be held months (I think six) later, which means that other candidates will have the time to come forward and launch a genuine election campaign. So, here's to "None of the Above"!
