buck,

<< I had McDATA on my mind, a Brocade OEM. >>

Well since I'm quibbling, are you sure that McData is still a Brocade OEM? Once upon a time they were, but according to IR at EMC (McData's parent), EMC does not use Brocade anymore. Supposedly sourcing from Brocade was a stop-gap measure until McData's internal stuff was ready. Also, EMC went out of their way to trash Brocade in a presentation last year. And again, when EMC asked for volunteers for the EMC FibreAlliance, Brocade was conspicuous by their absence.

It is true that McData is more than a captive supplier to EMC, but there is obviously some bad blood between EMC and Brocade, and it would seem especially odd if EMC was using Directors OEM'd from McData, who OEM'd switches/chips from Brocade. If you can shed any light on this matter I'd be very appreciative.

Greg

BTW, didn't you say that you had a very, very early flight Tuesday am? What are you doing on SI at this time of night after a full day?
