Wayne, no you wouldn't. The data of record is a non-event. You will only get the shares if you own them when the stock actually split on the open market.

Actually, if he holds the shares himself instead of at a broker in street name he would get the split shares if he sold after the record date. However, when he received these shares he would be legally obligated to deliver these shares to the person to which he sold the original shares. If held in street name all of these is handled for you behind the scenes by the broker.
