Perhaps if you sold your present house, and didn't co-mingle the proceeds, you could duck taxes on a new house up to the value of the old. The problem with that is that it would require some reporting, which would require an agency to monitor you, and so on and so on.

The National Sales Tax, as I understand it, would eliminate the IRS and annual reporting. The notion is that prices would be scaled downward, reflecting the savings to companies of the reporting process. Government would save the amount we now pay for the IRS. No more audits, no more property seizures, no more time spent with CPA's and tax attorneys, tax law would no longer be taught...

There could be some advantages.
