hmmmm, good question. Defintely not if he was really an out of control looney. If it comes out that he has a bad temper and had at one time in the past, lashed out against his wife, I could certainly be persuaded to overlook it. For the most part, I believe that a man's private life should not impact his work. It is certainly no better or worse in my mind than Bush's past drug abuse.

But if he is a "wife-beater" as in he often loses control and habitually resorts physical force when confronted, that is another story.

That depends on whose wife he was beating. If it was Bill Clinton's wife, yes.
