Time Warner Cable finally
formalized a six-month project to
launch video-on-demand services in
its Honolulu-based Oceanic Cable
system, confirming its use of VOD
gear by Concurrent Computer to
serve up on-demand movies to
some 254K customers.
A high-profile launch event is
happening in Honolulu today (2/23);
we hear that a dozen or so studio
muckety-mucks are in attendance,
at Time Warner?s invite. The reason:
Time Warner wants to build
confidence levels among studios
about the momentum and viability of
VOD ? and get better release
windows in the process.
