It looks like CHCL has produced a blitz of news releases in the last month. They announced negotiations and plans of all sorts. Just looking at the headlines, I don't see any clear theme, other than making announcements. Some of these announcements appear to be inconsistent: on Feb. 2 they announced a private placement where they sold some of there stock, then Feb. 18 they announce they will buy stock back. That doesn't make sense, and moreover, I've never seen it before. These aren't the only announcements that seem outright unlikely -- there's a deal in Pakistan worth up to $1 B? If you read the Economist's country survey on Pakistan (May 1999), you would decide there isn't a worse place to attempt to do business. I wonder how much of these things, including their announcement today re. HITT, will ever come off. See the list in the next post.
