Mr. John Smyth reports
Unitec has appointed several new agencies in the Middle East. IGCS (Industrial Group for Control Systems), a member of the Al-Jabor group of companies, represents Unitec in Qatar, Bahrain and Jordan. IGCS specializes in industrial automation and instrumentation for the oil and gas, power, cement, steel and water sectors, representing major European and North American manufacturers.
Unitec's agent for Oman is Gulf Development and Trading Enterprise LLC. A member of the Zawawi/EDGO group of companies, Gulf's business focus is directed toward the application of industrial products to the energy, power and water markets.
Energy International Corporation, headquartered in Michigan, represents Unitec in the United Arab Emirates and Lebanon. From operations in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi UAE and Beirut, Lebanon, Energy International sells and services industrial automation systems and mechanical equip equipment to the resource, energy, environmental and utility markets.
Unitec has previously won contracts in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and is represented in Saudi Arabia by the Al-Harbi Group. Strong representation, combined with successful installations, positions Unitec very well to obtain a significant proportion of the hundreds of millions of dollars in new SCADA equipment for water, oil and gas, and electrical in the Middle East over the next few years. The company is currently bidding on an estimated $20-million in SCADA projects in those areas. Management is interviewing similar quality companies in the surrounding countries to increase its presence in this important market.
