When Red McDaniel came back with evidence that there might be POWs still there, McCain had the option of keeping the hearings open for another day or two. Instead he abruptly shut them down. As a courtesy to McDaniel, who is a highly decorated colonel, he could have waited another day. The families were stunned by his insensitivity.
