And if each person who had an account with SI posted every day, we'd have a lot more posts than we actually do.

The yahoo and raging bull message boards are simply a representative sample of the average online retail investor. If every third message today was asking what date of record meant, you can safely assume there were also a lot of people who didn't make the effort to post.

Gerry, i was reading in IBD that something like today was probably caused by program trading....is there any evidence of this..... do you or anyone out there know how these programs kick in??
