TrueTime Announces Breakthrough Network Time Server for Enterprise Network Synchronization and Securitybiz.yahoo.com SANTA ROSA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 22, 2000--TrueTime, Inc. (Nasdaq:TRUE - news) today announced a breakthrough product, the high-performance NTS-200 Network Time Server, used to synchronize clocks on servers and workstations across entire enterprise networks. Accurately synchronized clocks are critical for network security, log file accuracy, billing systems, e-commerce and B2B transactions, database integrity, software development, and many more essential applications in today's corporate enterprise. The NTS-200 represents a breakthrough in network synchronization technology by combining a high-speed/high capacity network interface, high-channel-count GPS receiver, web-enabled user interfaces, and a wide range of network protocol support for seamless integration into an existing network. The high-bandwidth capability of the NTS-200 is important as modern broadband networks grow larger and faster and the need for reliable time becomes more critical. Previously, multiple time servers were often required to adequately synchronize even a few hundred network clients. Now, the high availability and throughput of the NTS-200 ensures that it can support thousands of network clients with no degradation in timing accuracy. The NTS-200 derives accurate time directly from the atomic clocks aboard the GPS satellite system. By using an integrated, 12-channel GPS receiver, every visible satellite can be tracked and used to maintain accurate and reliable time. Using the Network Time Protocol (NTP), servers and workstations on the network automatically synchronize their clocks to the NTS-200. This synchronization process is repeated frequently as computer clocks are notorious for drifting away from the correct time. Ease of use and remote access are key attributes of the NTS-200 state-of-the-art user interface. Designed with the network administrator in mind, the NTS-200's built-in web pages offer current status information and full control of the server. Protocols such as SNMP and FTP are supported for automated monitoring of the server and convenient remote system upgrades. The rack-mounted unit is easily installed and quickly brought online with a few front panel keystrokes. An auto-detect 100BaseT/10BaseT interface easily integrates with existing Ethernet network equipment. ''Providing time as a reliable resource to the corporate enterprise is a strategic focus of our company,'' said Lisa Withers, TrueTime's president and CEO. ''Today, accurate and reliable time is required to maintain internal business systems as well as conduct business with others over the Internet. ''Innovative products such as the high-performance NTS-200 provide a significant benefit to our customers who need a reliable source of time that can keep pace with their rapidly growing networks. The NTS-200 has undergone testing by a national laboratory, as well as on-going testing by numerous experts in the field of network synchronization. We are confident the NTS-200 will meet the demanding requirements of our customers.'' The NTS-200 is expected to be available for sale in mid-March 2000. TrueTime, Inc. designs develops, manufactures and markets precision time and frequency products that are essential components used by many technology based markets to provide greater accuracy and resolution than can be obtained from conventional timing devices.
