Thanks Colin,

I have set up a Md LLC based on editing a template operating agreement - I am a PhD finance with some basic legal training so I reckon I can do all my own legal and accounting work. each year - this leaves the incremental cost of the LLC at about $250 which is for MD state filing ($50) and an hour of legal consultation to vet the structure I set up - I would not recommend this route to people generally though and I would recommend in any case getting legal and accounting advice. - the only thing I am not aware of is whether i can avoid paying self-employed Soc security tax as an active member of an LLC if i I am also employed elsewhere full time!!
