(OT) Has Gilder's message boards been inaccessible the past couple days or is it a problem with my computer? It loads as far as the message board, then just goes blank. Thanks.

Max

Hello UUplink,

Yes, it is ... and this is my expect point. He has it listed as "Directory, Network Storage" ... but he is completely missing the other areas ...

I read them all ... and there is very little. No real meat at all ... NOVL just popped on, and then "dead-air" ...

I'm assuming that something is coming, but I'm not sure what it is. I know that George doesn't normally talk about technologies that are reaching a point of transition towards commodity ... but this is what the core directory products are becoming.

I guess that's what I was asking for other peoples perspectives on ... I've read and I can't see the fit. But in the proxy/cache space I see a *huge* fit ...

;-)

Can you provide me more detail on this? What is it that you mean by "pure"? I've actually met with the folks from MirrorImage a couple of times and talked with them in-depth about proxy/caches and "object routing" ... they are well aware of the benefits ...

You seem to indicate that there is something different though ... can you explain your perspective on exactly what ' "pure" emphasis on storewidth as opposed to software
routing schemes' means? I'm at a loss to define exactly what "storewidth" is ... even after reading Georges articles ...

But again, that's my exact point. We aren't talking about Novell's directory technology ... it has no direct relation to this whole conversation. But Novell's proxy/cache technology does! And I can't figure out why it's not being mentioned ...
