G'day all - hi Ken, I also agree. The only qualm [not about your response, but to the analyst's speculations] is that this is so common sense that would these analysts need to go to B schools and get paid megabucks to say something like that <g>? I mean, look at CSCO, it got a 1st mover advantage in the router and now IOS is so entrenched.

I think NT has a good shot. Having said that, it is imperative that NT does not have a let down right now. It is still wide open, only that NT has a slight advantage. But if she can exploit that opening, it will be fantastic!

best, B

We'll that's the question that I threw out for speculation.

Part I is: Is Nortel? And you seem to think so. I didn't know, so you're affirmation is good news that they at least have a toehold into the optical management space.

Part II is: Who else? What is LU doing, or CSCO?

Steve

Ken, I find it likely that the ODSI members will be the first to do this. Several of the emerging start-ups are closely tied. Also, I do believe that I read that Corvis supports a meshed optical network. Astralpoint is a member of the ODSI and is a meshed network vendor. Stay tuned. NT is far from being the defined winner in this space. Btw, did you see all of the LU announcements and deals? Brian
