Brian, Intel, in their conservativeness, said they'd be slightly down in the first quarter. From the earnings report:

** The company expects revenue for the first quarter of 2000 to be
slightly down from fourth quarter revenue of $8.2 billion, due to
seasonal factors.

Some CC questioners after the 1Q results tried to talk them into UP, but Andy Bryant, CFO stood fast. Looks like they were being a little over-conservative. OTOH, they did underestimate demand for Coppermine PIIIs and have been busting it like mad trying to catch up. I guess they probably will.

I am amazed at the divergence between INTC and MSFT; this is as wide as I can remember. INTC is not shipping their chips with Linux yet are they? Buying opp

It MIGHT be a reaction to the DOJ making it harder for MSFT to force feed desk-top items to the box makers.

then again, when MSFT corrects, which is historically rare, it is usually a good time to buy if you don't own it.
