Software firm Infosys Technologies(Nasdaq:INFY) has tied up with ICICI Bank to provide the customer services like paying telephone and electricity bills on the net. To aid these transactions, Infosys has designed a software called BancsPay. The two firms have also tied up with MTNL, BPL Mobile and BEST in Mumbai for the same. The payments would be accepted either through credit card or debited from the account.

Nandan Nilekani, Managing Director of Infosys said the company (Infosys) has been ranked among the top 10 providers of banking softwares in the world.

Nilekani was of the opinion that software exports must be taxed once the industry attains a critical size.

"When you look at a close to four billion dollars export industry and that there are several companies with profits in excess of Rs1 bn, certainly that is pretty sizeable," Nilekani told reporters.
