Not to belittle LU's efforts, but I gotta believe, that NT is about ready to release their generation 2, OC-192 product. All those comments about smaller and more efficient power consumption are important for LU, but that's only part (small part) of the buying decision.

People already having choosen NT's first release will anticipate their second. People looking at OC-192 for the first time will consider LU's gen 1 product, and the yet to be announced gen 2 product from NT (in non-disclosure evaluations).

That puts NT in the driver's chair, as far as I see it. They may even announce something at OFC in March.......who knows?

"The new gear, primarily aimed at the metropolitan and local access portions of the public network, eclipses existing OC-192 (10-Gbps) offerings from market leader Nortel Networks, according to analysts."

I thought that the main market for OC-192 is in the long-haul backbone transport? Why does the article say the LU OC-192 is primarily for the local & metro optics market which is a LOT SMALLER market right now?
