RBP.v news last week. more rumored next week. This is good news IMO and likely see double from here, I added 10k more just now. BB BTW heads up ATE--TIGHT FLOAT FOLKSTuesday February 15, 11:23 am Eastern Time Company Press Release SOURCE: Rainbow Group of Companies Inc.; QWIP Technologies QWIP, A New Weapon Against Breast Cancer CALGARY, Feb. 15 /CNW-PRN/ - Neil McLennan, President of Rainbow Group of Companies Inc. (CDNX - RBP) applauds the US Food and Drug Administration's approval of a new diagnostic sensing tool incorporating the QWIP (Quantum Well Infrared Photodetector) technology that will help with early detection of breast cancer without using radiation. ``This is a testament to the sophistication and applicability of the QWIP technology that we are currently marketing to the commercial and military sectors,' says McLennan. The new, noninvasive diagnostic weapon against breast cancer uses the QWIP technology, placing QWIP on a new level of importance in this emerging field. The device, called the BioScan Syste, was developed by Omnicorder Technologies Inc. ``We were aware that our technology had been used for testing at the Texas Heart Institute in the detection of arterial plaque, skin melanoma and burn victims.' said McLennan, ``The US Food and Drug Administration's approval is a tremendous medical breakthrough in the early detection of the highest cause of cancer death in women.' ``To have the required sensitivity to compete in the medical arena is an incredible endorsement of our technology,' he continued. ``We hope that this new testing device will replace the intrusive and painful procedure used today for breast cancer detection.' The Quantum Well Infrared Photodetector (QWIP), was invented by Dr. Sarath Gunapala, principle engineer of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory's device research and applications section, and the JPL consultant for Rainbow's subsidiary, QWIP Technologies LLC. The digital sensor detects the infrared energy emitted from the body, thus ``seeing' the minute differences associated with blood flow changes. Intensive studies have determined that cancer cells exude nitric oxide causing changes in blood flow in tissue surrounding cancer that can be detected by the sensor. ``It is a great pleasure to see something I invented being used for public benefit, especially in medicine and even more so in the early detection of cancer.' said Gunapala in a press release issued by JPL on January 28 (see ftp://ftp.hq.nasa.gov/pub). QWIP Technologies, the joint venture between ViaSpace Technologies and Rainbow Group of Companies (RBP: CDNX), is the sole source for bound to quasibound QWIP Focal Plane Arrays. The company is a world leader in developing, manufacturing and marketing QWIP focal plane arrays for use in both commercial and military infrared imaging products. QWIP Technologies' proprietary infrared technology will enable IR camera and system manufacturers to develop cutting edge products with unmatched cost/performance ratios. Rainbow, with its Joint Venture partner ViaSpace, has acquired an exclusive world wide license to the QWIP technology which was developed at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, a NASA centre for space exploration managed by the California Institute of Technology. The Canadian Venture Exchange has neither approved nor disapproved the contents of this news release. RAINBOW GROUP OF COMPANIES INC.
