Here is what is threatening the oil stocks.Remember, oils peaked about the time this was discovered ... August 1999.

Elephant Dung Made Into Electricity

February 24, 2000
BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) via NewsEdge Corporation -

Thai researchers say they have succeeded in generating
electricity from natural gas derived from elephant dung.

A spokeswoman from the Ministry of Science's Bureau of
Energy Development and Promotion said Wednesday that a
project begun in August last year has been developing ways of
using elephant excrement as a low-cost and environmental
friendly source of energy.

The researchers found that when the excrement is fermented,
it can produce natural gas suitable for use as cooking gas or
feedstock for am electric generator.

An elephant produces 88 to 110 pounds of excrement a day _
enough to produce cooking gas for a family of two or three,
according to the ministry.

But the cost is not cheap.

The minimum price of construction of a fermentation pit,
pipeline and storage tank is around $800 and a generator that
could use the gas costs around $2,667.

The ministry plans to release a report in the next two or three
months promoting use of the project's method nationwide,
especially in the North and the Northeast where most of the
country's domesticated elephants are found and the problem
of how to dispose of the elephants' waste is most acute.

Rory Heiner,
I am not nearly as concerned about the sentiment on Oil stocks, the best time to buy is when sentiment
sucks. I am concerned about the general market weakness. While the market looks weak short term strong long term, just because all the common folk have their cash in it, the big boys are sitting on nice fat techie profits. They may be saving Oils for a place of refuge after they cash those profits and bilk the common folk out of their hard earned cash. But who knows what plans they have for their exit?
I worry that they might have other plans. OTOH, considering how they bad mouth the oil sector, my faith is renewed, VBG.

While on hold waiting for a broker (40 min) I listened to Bloomin'Berg on the speaker phone and all they could talk about was the SOX and SEMI's, how wonderful their earnings were. The only mention of oil was how it was spoiling everyone's party with that 30+ oil which could cause inflation. Thankfully they didn't get into how inflation wouldn't effect THEIR profits, so I didn't have to puke or anything. No wonder I don't usually listen or watch that crap.

OSX holding up great today, first sign of rotation?

Best Regards,

Roebear
