Harry, yes I agree. I think Smackdown's only competition for top PSX full price sales in Q1 is Gran Turismo 2. GT has a nice head start but we'll see.

Aloha and Bob:

Don't forget Rugrats. Last year THQ sold the hell out of Reptar at full price. The corresponding Studio Tour title isn't doing very well. So a big difference is Rugrats. I think adding the employees doesn't help either, even if that will really pay off in Q4 (Evil Dead) and beyond. Wrestling is down as well.

I don't quite get Q2 either but if Smackdown is a big success then you might see estimates come up. Actually, I think some of the Q1 and Q2 estimates are higher than THQ guidance already. Perhaps the analysts are a bit annoyed. Perhaps that's why DeLean wasn't on the call either.

Aloha's point about N64 is a good one. Competition will really fall away on that console by mid-year. THQ can clean up while overall N64 sales go down. I look forward to the day when THQ can publish EA brands on N64.

I'm thinking that THQ's big prepaid royalties is due to not only WWF and the new brands, but also some licenses we don't know about yet. Remember, we won't have the full 2000 holiday lineup set until E3 and sometimes a game or two gets announced after that.

If an internally developed game like Evil Dead becomes a hit that would help THQ become a takeout candidate. Similarly, if Summoner looks really good THQ should buy Volition.
