**OT**-Notakid.com seeks private placement-In talks with leading ISPs notakid.com It ain't pocket-money -- Notakid.com seeks Rs 5 crore through private placement Mini K Joseph Bangalore, Feb 24: Damden Infotech promoted notakid.com, an exclusive portal for children , is planning a private placement to mop up Rs 5 crore to fund its promotional activities in India, according to the company's director Dennis T Basil. Basil told The Financial Express that the company was currently in talks with four venture capital firms and a couple of financial institutions and would zero in on a suitable partner by March 2000. The equity partner would be given 30 per cent of the company's equity at a premium which was yet to be decided. "We have already engaged a firm to do a valuation and fix a premium," he said. The promotional activity would include on and off-line advertisement campaigns, roadshows and splashes across the country, he said.The company's managing director Damla T Mathew said the portal was expecting a hit rate of 40 million a month by the end of the calendar as against four million currently. "We are looking at three-fold revenue from the portal - banner space,sponsorship and e-commerce," Mathew said. The portal would expand its reach to Mumbai, Delhi, Calcutta and Hyderabad by April and it would cover the entire country by October, he said. The company also has plans to kick off country-specific portals after a year. To this end, it was currently in discussion with a couple of content providers in the US, he said. "Overseas we will launch customised portals and are currently in search of the right partners in the US," Basil said. The company is also in talks with a couple of leading Internet service providers in the country for strategic alliances with a view to facilitate the gateway, he added. Talks with leading brands like Lee are also on for a combined promotion drive in India. Damden Infotech is planning to move out to a new 5000 sqft office in Koramangala by March.The company also has plans to enhance its personnel strength to 100 from the current 45 which comprises 22 teachers. On notakid.com, Mathew said the portal was a platform for Netsavvy youngsters to discover themselves and voice their views. It would offer a chat channel to facilitate interaction among teachers, students and parents.
