China has indefinitely postponed deployment of a new type of
mobile telecommunications that relies on technology from QUALCOMM
INCORPORATED (136-1/4, down 10-5/8 @ 11:32 am ET), The Wall Street
Journal reported. The delay order has not been made public. It has
surprised foreign companies, some of whom had bid on the project
to build a national mobile-phone network, the newspaper said.
Executives at several companies involved in the project said their
bids to supply equipment were not being accepted
